They have been together for a while now, and the pairing has outlasted almost everyone's predictions. Here's the timeline.
Rumors surfaced in early 2023, initially treated as improbable enough that much of the internet assumed it was a misreading.

The pattern that followed was familiar for a Hollywood relationship in its early stage: sightings, no confirmation, and neither party addressing it. They were reportedly seen together repeatedly before anything became official.
Born in August 1997, Jenner had come out of a long and heavily documented relationship with Travis Scott, with whom she shares two children. Chalamet, born December 1995, had kept his private life almost entirely out of view.
That contrast set the terms of everything that followed.
The moment that ended the speculation was a Beyoncé concert in 2023, where the two were filmed together by other attendees. The clip circulated instantly and comprehensively.

What made it effective as a confirmation is that it wasn't one. There was no statement, no exclusive, no staged photo call. They simply appeared in public in a venue full of phones and let the internet do the rest.
The same approach carried into subsequent appearances — awards ceremonies, sporting events, fashion week. Present together, commenting on nothing.
The reaction was disproportionate, and it's worth being honest about why: it exposed a snobbery that people don't usually state out loud.
Chalamet's career is built almost entirely on auteur directors — Guadagnino, Gerwig, Villeneuve, Nolan — as our career breakdown covers. His audience skews toward people who take film seriously and who define themselves partly against reality television.
Jenner represents the exact opposite cultural position, and a great deal of the commentary was really about whether he had somehow lowered himself.
That framing ignores something obvious: Jenner built a cosmetics company into one of the most commercially successful celebrity brands ever launched. Whatever you think of reality television, that is not an unserious person.
Predictions of a quick ending were widespread and wrong. A few plausible reasons.
Neither needs anything from the other. Publicity relationships exist because one party gains exposure. Both of these people were already at maximum visibility in their own fields. There is no obvious transaction.
They kept it undiscussed. Relationships that get narrated publicly acquire an audience with expectations. Neither has given interviews about it, which removes the pressure of performing a relationship for people invested in it.
Jenner's shift away from constant documentation. Reportedly she has been notably more private in recent years than during the peak reality-television era, particularly regarding her children. That change made this approach possible at all.
