Avengers: Doomsday releases in cinemas on December 18, 2026. India typically gets Marvel films on the same day as the international release, and often a day earlier.

When Does It Release in India?

Marvel has released day-and-date in India for years, and for the biggest titles India has sometimes gone a day earlier than the US because of how the release calendar falls across time zones.

Expect early morning shows. For Endgame, Indian multiplexes ran screenings from around 4:00 AM onwards to meet demand, and several chains added overnight slots. A film of this scale will likely see the same.

Nothing India-specific has been formally announced yet. Distributors typically confirm regional dates and formats around six to eight weeks out.

Which Languages Will It Be In?

Marvel films release in India in multiple languages as standard. Expect:

• English — original
• Hindi — dubbed, widest reach
• Tamil — dubbed
• Telugu — dubbed

Some recent Marvel titles have added Kannada and Malayalam in select markets. Availability varies by city and chain.

The Hindi dubs have improved considerably over the years and now carry a substantial share of the box office — for the biggest MCU films, dubbed versions have at times outperformed the English original in overall footfall.

IMAX and Premium Formats

India has a growing IMAX footprint, concentrated in metros — Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Kolkata all have screens.

Marvel shoots its Avengers films with IMAX cameras for significant portions, which means the image expands to fill more of the screen in those sequences. On a standard screen you lose picture from the top and bottom of those shots.

If you have an IMAX option nearby, it's genuinely worth the premium for this specific film. Other premium formats — 4DX, Dolby Cinema, PVR's larger-format screens — are widely available in metros too.

Advance Booking — What to Expect

Advance booking for major Marvel releases in India typically opens one to two weeks before release, through BookMyShow and Paytm Insider, plus chain apps for PVR INOX and Cinepolis.

Practical advice based on how previous MCU launches went:

• Book the moment it opens. Endgame crashed booking platforms in India within minutes of going live.
• Use the chain's own app as a backup — they sometimes hold inventory separately from aggregators.
• Opening weekend IMAX sells out first, often within hours in metros.
• Avoid opening-day evening shows if you want a calmer viewing — the atmosphere is electric but the crowd is loud.

Ticket prices for opening weekend are usually raised across chains, with premium formats going considerably higher.

Why India Matters to Marvel

India has become one of the MCU's most important international markets. Marvel films consistently rank among the highest-grossing Hollywood releases in the country, and Endgame's Indian run was among the strongest for any Western film there.

That's why the marketing push in India has grown substantially, with dubbed trailers, regional promotional partnerships, and occasional cast appearances.

For a country where Hollywood typically captures a modest share against domestic cinema, Marvel's performance is a genuine outlier.
